People often make assumptions about the gender of another person based on a person’s appearance or name. Then, they apply those assumptions to the pronouns and forms of address used to refer to a person.
Here are some ways to make a more inclusive environment in your daily life:
- When meeting someone new, introduce yourself and the pronouns you go by
- Don't assume anyone's pronouns based on their appearance
- Include your pronouns in your email signature
